Tom maakt monumentale houtskooltekeningen waarin de menselijke figuur een drager wordt van existentiële en psychologische spanning. Zijn werk toont anonieme verhulde lichamen en afgesloten interieurs die fungeren als mentale ruimten gevormd door schuld, isolatie of confrontatie. Met gebruik van clair-obscur en getextureerde ondergronden toont hij een directe en lichamelijke beeldtaal die vrij is van ironie of spektakel; De mens als emotioneel wezen, bevangen in een innerlijke gevoelswereld. Licht als een moreel en emotioneel kompas.
Tom werkt voornamelijk met houtskool, pastel of olieverf. Veel van de materialen en media zijn handgemaakt, om commerciële tussenstappen te minimaliseren die de intentie van het werk kunnen vervagen.
Tom studeerde af in Beeldende Kunsten op Heilig Graf Turnhout. Hij woont in Westmalle en werkt als antiek- en kunstrestaurator op site Kanaal te Wijnegem bij Axel Vervoordt.
Zijn werk is vertoond o.a bij Frappant Kaartmuseum (Turnhout), De Bijl Open Doek (Zoersel), Passage (Turnhout), Smashing Colors (Goirle) and Impressions (Goirle).
Tom creates monumental charcoal drawings in which the human figure becomes a carrier of existential and psychological tension. His work depicts anonymous, veiled bodies and enclosed interiors that function as mental spaces shaped by guilt, isolation, or confrontation. Through the use of chiaroscuro and textured surfaces, he develops a direct and physical visual language, free of irony or spectacle; the human being as an emotional creature, caught within an inner world of feeling. Light acts as a moral and emotional compass.
Tom works primarily with charcoal, pastel, and oil paint. Many of the materials and media are handmade, in order to minimize commercial intermediaries that could blur the intention of the work.
Tom graduated in Fine Arts from Heilig Graf in Turnhout. He works as an antique and art restorer at Kanaal Wijnegem with Axel Vervoordt.
His work has been shown, among others, at: Frappant Kaartmuseum (Turnhout), De Bijl Open Doek (Zoersel), Passage (Turnhout), Smashing Colors (Goirle) and Impressions (Goirle, the Netherlands).
